EMBOSSING AND DEBOSSING

A RAISED LOGO AND FANCY FINISH STARTS WITH EMBOSSING

Ever wondered how very specific areas of printed stationery or promotional material are raised or imprinted? Then let us explain to you how this process works, as we use these techniques to help our customers make their print unique.

EMBOSSING & DEBOSSING

Like the idea of a raised logo or type on your printed stationery? Well embossing or debossing, respectively, is how it’s done. A die is created to push the image, be it a logo or what ever you desire, into the paper creating a bevel or dent in one side or the other. Both techniques provide added texture as well as visual shadow lines that subtly enhance the look and feel of your printed product. This can also be done over an unprinted area, known as blind embossing or on top of a printed image.

Popular uses are a raised embossed logo on the front of your business card, a subtle or not so subtle debossed imprint in the corner of your business stationery, such as letter heads and compliment slips or sometimes even on the cover of a book or brochure.

DIE STAMPING

Die stamping is a lot like embossing but with ink placed in the die before the paper is pushed against it. This technique allows us to achieve the same effect as embossing but it can be applied to a much finer area, even a written sentence. Great for all sorts of products but most commonly used for invitations, certificates and Christmas cards.
