THIS IS PRINT FINISHING AT IT’S BEST BUT WE’LL LET YOU DECIDE

The pièce de résistance of print finishing techniques has to be either thermographic printing or foil blocking. Let us whet your appetite with how we could give your print a unique finish today!

THERMOGRAPHIC PRINTING

Thermographic printing is one of those techniques which people often see, but find hard to explain and therefore without knowing the name, tend not to ask about it. We find this a shame as it adds definition to the colour and texture you just can’t get with other techniques. In the simplest form, it’s a raised thick ink with an almost gloss laminate effect.

To achieve this effect, thermographic printing uses an ink process, followed by the application of a thermo powder. This is then heated & cooled again, the combination of ink and powder combined raises up when heated. Once cooled, you are left with a rich and vibrant raised glossy image that looks great in colour giving your stationery that ‘fresh’ look or plain black for that slick ‘Saville Row’ style. Mainly used on business cards but doesn’t have to be!

FOIL BLOCKING

Foil blocking or foiling, is one of those finishes which can make something quite simple look creative and inspiring, yet professional at the same time. We can create this effect by using a variety of different foils which will give your stationery that real metallic spark you just can’t get with metallic inks. Foiling is available in both gloss and matt finishes and looks absolutely amazing when applied to laminated print!

Foil blocking is mainly used for logos but don’t let that stop you. We are always happy to discuss how foil blocking could work for your business. We have even heard rumours of foil blocking over embossing or debossing and would be very interested in trying this out..
